The second annual Materials Day 2026 concluded with resounding success, surpassing the achievements of its inaugural edition. Held on January 19, 2026, the event underscores the rapid growth, prominent presence, and broad influence of the Materials Science and Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). This year’s event welcomed over 1,900 attendees and featured 16 research booths, providing a vital platform for graduate students to showcase their research, exchange ideas, and network with faculty, industry leaders, and peers from across the materials community.
The Materials Engineering Society participated in the accompanying exhibition and also presented a speech titled “The Materials Engineering Society and its Role in Localizing Engineering Knowledge,” delivered by the Chairman of the Materials Engineering Association (MEA), Dr. Tariq A. Al-Ghamdi. The importance of professional societies in supporting knowledge transfer, empowering practitioners, and building effective bridges between the academic and industrial sectors was highlighted, contributing to strengthening the engineering ecosystem locally.
